Forest Crush Spurs 3-0: Igor Jesus, Gibbs-White & Awoniyi Goals Deepen Tottenham's Relegation Nightmare.

Nottingham Forest 3-0 Tottenham: Igor Jesus, Gibbs-White and Awoniyi Goals Plunge Spurs Deeper into Relegation Crisis.

Nottingham Forest delivered a resounding 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in a Premier League clash that exposed the hosts' ongoing struggles and boosted Forest's survival hopes.
Maciel Igor Jesus struck on the stroke of halftime, Morgan Gibbs-White added a superb second in the 62nd minute, and Taiwo Awoniyi sealed the rout with a clinical 87th-minute finish. This comprehensive defeat left Spurs winless in their last several matches and firmly entrenched in a relegation battle.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, usually a fortress of attacking football, felt subdued as a shell-shocked home crowd witnessed their side's latest setback. With attendance nearing full capacity, the atmosphere turned increasingly frust
rated as Forest's clinical finishing and tactical discipline dismantled Spurs.

First Half: Forest Strike Late Through Igor Jesus

Spurs started with intent, dominating possession and creating early chances through quick transitions. However, their finishing lacked conviction, with efforts from key attackers flashing wide or being comfortably saved.

Forest, under pressure in the relegation zone, absorbed the pressure and grew into the game. Their counter-attacks posed constant threats, exploiting gaps in Spurs' high defensive line.

The breakthrough came in the 45th minute, right on the cusp of halftime. A swift move saw the ball worked to Igor Jesus, who found space on the edge of the box. He unleashed a powerful low drive that beat the keeper and nestled into the net, giving Forest a crucial 1-0 lead going into the break.

Igor Jesus wheeled away in celebration, arms outstretched, as the traveling Forest fans erupted. The goal was a momentum-shifter, rewarding Nuno Espírito Santo's side for their disciplined approach.

Second Half: Gibbs-White's Class and Awoniyi's Clincher

Spurs emerged after halftime looking to respond, but Forest maintained their shape and composure. In the 62nd minute, the game was effectively ended. Morgan Gibbs-White, ever the creative force, picked up the ball in midfield, drove forward, and curled a magnificent effort into the top corner from 20 yards out—2-0.

Gibbs-White's celebration was passionate, pointing to the badge as the away end roared. His goal showcased his growing maturity and ability to influence big games.

With Spurs pushing forward desperately, spaces opened up. Forest capitalized in the 87th minute when Taiwo Awoniyi latched onto a through ball, held off his marker, and slotted home coolly past the onrushing keeper for 3-0.

Awoniyi raced to the corner flag, sliding on his knees as teammates joined him in jubilation. The goal confirmed a statement win and sent Forest leaping over relegation rivals.

The final whistle brought relief and ecstasy for Forest, while Spurs players trudged off amid boos from sections of the home support.

Post-Match Reaction: Bruno Saltor Speaks

With manager Igor Tudor absent due to family issues, assistant Bruno Saltor addressed the media: "Igor is not here for family issues, so thought the best way to do is him not taking the press today. We just respect it. If we focus on the result today, it's a tough one to take. It's a really difficult one. If you focus on the last two games and the performance in the first half today, we were much better.

But small details are going against us right now. The key is how we can be consistent with our performances throughout the 90 minutes. The players care and they get affected. We need to be stronger than that. We need to be focussed on what we want to do. We need to keep improving and getting better. We are in a relegation battle. Everyone knows. We are conscious of it. The players, they know.

The most important thing is to be together. The fans showed they were next to us. From the start to the finish, they were outstanding. We felt the support. For us, we need to be stay connected. We need to get even closer when there are problems like a family. That's the message. Still 21 points to play for. We have shown we can compete against any team. We need to keep improving and getting better to get those points."

Saltor's words highlighted the mental toll and the need for unity amid crisis.

Standings Impact and Broader Context

Post-match, Tottenham sat on 7 wins, 9 draws, 15 losses for 30 points, deep in the drop zone. Forest improved to 8-8-15 and 32 points, moving above several rivals. This result compounded Spurs' woes, marking a historic low and raising questions about managerial stability.

Forest's performance was built on defensive solidity, midfield control from Gibbs-White, and clinical finishing. Spurs' issues—defensive errors, lack of cutting edge—were exposed ruthlessly.

The City Ground faithful will celebrate this as a massive step toward survival, while Spurs face an uphill battle in the remaining fixtures.

This 3-0 thrashing will be remembered as a turning point in both clubs' seasons—one rising, the other sinking deeper into trouble.
