The story of king Mahidas...

As per the legend, there was a king named Mahidas who unwittingly committed many sins during his lifetime. He was disrespectful towards Brahmins and negligent towards his duties. This explains why he was sent to Yamaloka where he suffered a lot. To course correct, the kind in his final life before death observed Apara Ekadashi vrat with a sincere heart.
