Zomato Renamed ‘Eternal’: Food Delivery Company Unveils New Logo.
Food and grocery delivery platform Zomato has officially announced its name change to "Eternal" and has unveiled a new logo. This decision comes more than two years after the Deepinder Goyal-led firm began using the new name internally.
In a letter to shareholders on Thursday, Deepinder Goyal stated that the company board had approved the name change and requested shareholders to support the transition.

Zomato's Transition to Eternal
With the approval of the name change, the company's corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com. Additionally, its stock ticker will change from ZOMATO to ETERNAL. The rebranded company will now comprise four major businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.

Deepinder Goyal recalled how Zomato originated from Foodiebay, a company he founded in 2007, and how it evolved into India's first startup to make it to the Sensex. Zomato entered the BSE Sensex on December 23, 2023.
“This journey has created tremendous wealth — not just for me, but for our employees, institutional investors, and retail shareholders. But I did not start Zomato to make money. I started it because I wanted to do something worthwhile with my life,” Goyal expressed in his letter.
The Evolution of 'Eternal'
The name 'Eternal' has been used internally within the company for the last two years, especially after Zomato acquired Blinkit. At that time, the term "Eternal" was adopted internally to distinguish between the company and its brands, including the Zomato app.

Goyal stated in his letter that the company had planned to publicly rename itself to Eternal when something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of the company’s future. With Blinkit now contributing significantly to growth, Goyal believes that moment has arrived.
“We would like to rename Zomato Ltd., the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd. Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to. Because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox,” he wrote.
Why 'Eternal'?
The choice of the name "Eternal" signifies the company's long-term vision, resilience, and adaptability in the fast-evolving food and grocery delivery industry. Deepinder Goyal acknowledged the weight of this name, stating that true permanence isn't built on claims of invincibility but rather on sustained efforts and evolution.

Goyal also shared that the company was born out of a simple idea: providing a service for people to access takeaway menus online. What started as a weekend project has now grown into one of India's most successful startups, expanding into various sectors such as quick commerce (Blinkit), restaurant solutions (Hyperpure), and logistics (District).
Impact of the Name Change
Corporate Rebranding: The transition from Zomato Ltd. to Eternal Ltd. will reflect on official documents, branding, and regulatory filings.
Stock Market Updates: Investors will need to track the new stock ticker ETERNAL instead of ZOMATO.
Consumer Perception: While the Zomato brand will remain for its food delivery services, the umbrella company aims to project a broader business vision.
Employee & Stakeholder Alignment: Internal teams and stakeholders have already been using "Eternal" for two years, ensuring a seamless transition.
The Future of Eternal
With this rebranding, Eternal Ltd. aims to strengthen its position in food delivery, quick commerce, and restaurant services while maintaining its core values. The company's growth strategy includes expanding Blinkit, enhancing Hyperpure's restaurant supply chain, and leveraging data analytics for more personalised consumer experiences.
As Zomato transitions into Eternal, the move reflects its broader aspirations beyond food delivery. It signifies a future-focused approach aimed at sustainability, scalability, and long-term business resilience.
Zomato's renaming to "Eternal" marks a pivotal moment in its corporate journey. While the core food delivery service under the Zomato brand remains unchanged, the parent company's evolution signals a bold step toward diversification and long-term vision. With Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District contributing to its expansion, Eternal Ltd. is set to redefine the future of digital commerce in India.
As Deepinder Goyal stated, "Eternal is a promise and a paradox." Only time will tell how this transformation shapes the company’s legacy in the ever-evolving digital economy.
